Kimono Size Guide
Kimono Size Guide —
How to Measure for Perfect Fit
Women's, men's, plus size, and kids sizing — everything you need to find your perfect kimono.
To find your correct kimono size: measure your chest circumference (fullest part), your height, and your waist (for belted styles). Most modern kimono robes are sized S/M/L/XL with generous proportions — when in doubt, size up. Japanese sizing typically runs smaller than US sizing, so we recommend going up one size from your usual US size.
How to Measure Yourself
You'll need a soft measuring tape. Measure in your underwear for the most accurate results:
- Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor
- Waist: Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat
- Height: Stand straight against a wall and measure from floor to top of head

Length Guide — Short vs Long Kimono
Kimono length is equally important as size:
- Short/mini kimono (above knee): Best as a fashion cardigan or beach cover up
- Midi kimono (knee to mid-calf): Most versatile — works as loungewear, dress, and layer
- Long kimono (ankle length): Most dramatic — ideal for bridal robes and luxury loungewear
